What is LeRoc?
LeRoc, CerocTM, LeJive, Modern Jive: These are the most common names for a dance that continues to grow in popularity.
It is undoubtedly the easiest partner dance to learn and is taught in a fun and informal atmosphere.
It has grown out of the French style jive, which continued across the channel after the 1960s during which partner dancing effectively died out in the UK.
The basic dance is built upon a few basic moves, but it borrows from other dance styles and there are now hundreds of moves to learn.
LeRoc is Easy to Learn
In your very first lesson you can learn three or four moves so you can start enjoying it straight away.
The dress code is casual, but make sure you are comfortable. Also make sure that your footwear is suitable; DO NOT wear rubber-soled shoes such as trainers, as you will have trouble spinning and turning.
In addition it provides exercise which is not only good for the physical aspects of the body but also mental well being.

FAQ
WHERE CAN I DO IT?
Bristol LeRoc provides venues at Bristol Folk House, Park Street, Bristol every Monday run by John Eastman and Jacquie Dunn, alternatively you can go to The Old School Rooms, Station Road, Congresbury, North Somerset BS49 5DX for Beginners / Improvers classes which are run by Brian and Jacqui Inglis every Wednesday. So what's stopping you?
DO I NEED TO BRING A PARTNER?
No - we have a lot of people who come to the classes on their own. We frequently rotate partners every few minutes during the class, so all the leaders will dance with all the followers. This makes for a sociable class and also promotes faster learning.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO CLASS?
Casual clothes are fine - people tend not to dress up for classes. Wear something that's comfortable to move in. For shoes something comfortable, but not trainers or rubber soled shoes as you do need to spin, leather soles can be too slippy.
CAN I JOIN ANY WEEK?
Yes
- we have new people join most weeks. The classes are run on a pay as you go
basis, not as a course. We go over the basics at the start of each class,
although as the term progresses, we may add some of the more complex beginner's
moves/steps.
For more information visit http://bristol-leroc.co.uk/ or go to the Contact page and we look forward to seeing you at one of our classes.
